LOCAL ARTISTS SHOWCASE THEIR TALENTS FOR A CHARITABLE CAUSE
Detroit, Mich., April 23, 2010 - 5 Mo' Artists Detroit-2010, one of Detroit's most anticipated art experiences, will present a magical evening of art, jazz and theatre from 7p.m. to Midnight on Saturday, June 5, at the Samaritan Center, 5555 Conner in Detroit. The 5th annual charitable event, presented by Pharaoh's Treasure Box and Art by Sewd, will feature the works of local artists including Michigan Artisans, Cambia Smith, Ulysses O. Hallowell, Jr., Michelle Smart (Elegance N Glass), Sharon Williams-Dean( Art by Sewd ) and Peter Jackson ( Pharoah’s Treasure Box ). Special guest artist for the evening will be renowned environmental artist, PONCH the King, who will exhibit “Creations,” a vibrant and engaging premier installation that recreates the gathering of the Ark of Noah in stunning life-size realism!
The evening of entertainment will feature the sultry style of jazz recording artist Helen Gilbert and her jazz ensemble, using “That Ole Black Magic” to set your soul ablaze!
Brace yourself for a unique theatre experience with up close and personal Illusions. Performances by La Troupe Des Art! under The Direction of performing artist Demetris Taylor (ATL),Who will present "Theatre Experimental 2010". Darlene Blakely, of La Troupe Des Art, will emcee the event.
5 Mo' Artists Detroit-2010, sponsored in part by the Upgrade Foundation, will be held Saturday, June 5th from 7 p.m. to Midnight At The Samaritan Center, 5555 Conner in Detroit. A portion of the proceeds from the 5th annual charity event will benefit Uplifting Communities Organization (a faith-based non-profit organization in Southwest Detroit).
